Shamanic Workshop with Nepalese Shaman, Bhola Bastola – 06-07 July 2018
Shamanic teachers Fotoula Adrimi of The ISIS School of Holistic Health, and Maggie Carmichael of Bluebird DreamWeaver, have invited Bhola Bastola, a Nepalese Shaman, to teach his indigenous healing and mystical traditions in a workshop in Glasgow, Scotland. Fotoula and Maggie have taken part in a shamanic pilgrimage with Bhola in Nepal and Tibet in 2014 and 2017 respectively. They gained so much from the rich and ancient teachings that Bhola shared and so admired his integrity and open-hearted approach, that they wanted to offer others the opportunity to experience Bhola’s work.
The Workshop: Nepalese-Himalayan Shamanism – The Magic of the Three Worlds
In this two-day programme Bhola will introduce participants to the three realms of spirit and how they are reflected inside and outside the body. We will learn the traditional Nepalese method of using three spheres of light for protection and shape-shifting postures. We will also learn how the five elements are connected to aspects of our body. Through journeys, we will meet the creatures that inhabit our realms and what they need to support our power.
The workshop will also introduce participants to the sacred dagger known as a kila or kilaya. Used for centuries by shamans before being adopted by Buddhism, this ritual implement is a manifestation of the world tree, the three realms and the jhankri's helping spirits. The kila may be used to extract spiritual illness, clear spaces, charge healing waters, impart blessings and hold the centre of the cosmos for your shamanic work. Participants will learn the sacred kila mudras—the ritual handling of the sacred dagger—and how we can utilise this shamanic tool in our own practice.
To complete the workshop Bhola will offer each person a blessing of protection, harmony, balance and joy, and lead us in the Siir Uthaunu ceremony to raise our innate power. Time permitting, he will also undertake two ceremonies: The Khadga Puja: to remove or transmute obstacles and the Ceremony to Hone the Elements of Nature (outdoors).
Prerequisites: A working knowledge of shamanic journeying is required. Both Maggie and Fotoula offer in-depth workshops in shamanism and shamanic journeying, in Falkirk and Glasgow respectively. Please contact them directly for details.
The Teacher: Bhola Banstola is a Nepalese Shaman, born in the foothills of Mount Everest in the district of Bhojpur. He is a graduate in Naturopathy from the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines in Calcutta and has conducted extensive research on shamanism within different ethnic groups and traditions in his native country as well as in India and abroad. Bhola has spent long periods with Shamans in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet being a bridge between worlds and cultures. He has made a documentary film of these healing arts, and has been working and teaching all over the world, including his native country, Asia, Europe and America.
